Nice apartment with staff who have certainly been on the customer awareness course and a city well worth seeing. In fact I have really enjoyed my day here today. Got the bus into town and just mooched around. Caught the bus a couple more times during the day and the drivers were exceptionally helpful. A really good feel to the city centre and the other main places of interest, which were the citadel and what they call city beach! The fact that the term citadel is used instead of castle is maybe an indication of a more eastern influence here but there was nothing eastern about the city beach. Essentially what they've done is got the bulldozers in to reform the banks of the Danube at a certain point in the city and dumped goodness knows how many lorry loads of sand, and turned it into a fabulous leisure amenity. Beyond the beach area there is parkland with playgrounds and sports facilities, and today it played host to the Serbian National beach handball championship. Sat a couple of hours and watched. Ok so Serbia doesn't have a coastline but there were some really good skills on view at times with a level of sportsmanship that would put much of uk sport to shame!
Will move onto Zagreb tomorrow and return to Serbia a bit later in the trip.
Much love,
Glen x
