Eger and the Valley of Beautiful Women!

Left Slovakia yesterday for a town in northeastern Hungary called Eger. It's  a little gem and what's more it's in the heart of the countries 'Bulls Blood' wine producing area. Now there's  a story! Friendly people, an original minaret, ornate churches, a hill top castle, a beautiful square and fabulous Baroque architecture!! I'm just off to sample a few in said valley now!! Lord knows why it's called what it is but essentially it's a plethora of wine cellars in a valley about half an hour walk from the centre of the town. Some 200 in all I'm led to believe!!  Will hopefully be back to finish this post later!!
What an intriguing place! Hardly a valley really but wine caves galore built into the hillside!! They are all numbered and I got as far 40 something but only tasted in four!! They vary markedly in nature with many now taking on a marketing edge and charging for the experience, albeit a pittance.  Tried the famous bulls blood but much preffered some of the other blends. Number 19 was by far my favourite. Haven't visited the castle yet but will do so tomorrow morning before making my way to Budapest. 33 degrees here again today!
I'll start the photo shoot with a couple from the valley showing the variety of marketing approaches!
Be good,
Glen x
