Dropped out of the Czech Republic into Austria to make use of the Austrian motorway system on my way to Bratislava, yesterday. By the time I had found somewhere to stay it still took me all day. Chose a hotel close to a stop on the tram system for easy access to the city today. Less than a euro to get into the old town area on the tram which lies at the foot of the castle. Some resemblance to Prague, but only some, the 'grandeur' being far more limited in scale. In fact, as I visit the different cities on my journey I must endeavour to appreciate them in their own right and not make comparisons with what's gone before! I'm sure that had I not been to Prague I would have been eulogising about the architecture and ambience of Bratislava's old town, which is very impressive. I wasn't sure when I arrived how much time I would need to feel 'satisfied', but I am, and will leave for the High Tatra Mountains tomorrow.
A number of pictures attached, starting with the castle, which was extremely difficult to photograph on my phone!
