Croatia, Plitvice Lakes National Park

It is something of a spectacle I suppose but unfortunately it was one of those experiences where the crowds dominate rather than the spectacle itself. The park is very beautiful and comprises of a combination of wooded hills and lakes, all interconnected by a series of rivers, cascades and waterfalls. The hoards, and I mean hoards, are required to queue - for those who have had the experience it's far worse than the M25 - along wooden footpaths and over wooden bridges to try to make what they can of it.  At times it was like taking pictures of people taking pictures, if you get my drift!! I guess the best news on the day is that it was only a two and a quarter hour drive to get there and not three as I was expecting!!  Sorry Croatia, but I really can't do any better than that!!
