This will be the last port of call in Western Bulgaria before dropping into northern Greece tomorrow and I will return to Bulgaria in due course. I've not particularly kept you abreast of the difficulties I have experienced trying to access B and H, Macedonia, Kosova and Albania. They all started with my insurance company refusing to allow me to take my car in to any of them. Public transport is scant and involves ridiculous amounts of time and, try as I might to hire a car from any of the surrounding countries, it's a very, very firm no no!! Will try again in Northern Greece but I am not holding my breath. I may have to come again with a more cunning plan.
Anyway, Melnik is remote, the smallest town in Bulgaria and offers the intrepid traveller just one thing!! Wine!! Cheap, potentially nasty and in copious amounts! So, John and are just off out!! Will bring you up to speed tomorrow!!
Some pictures of the town Centre attached!!
Be good,
G x
