Poland, Krakow

The old town of Krakov is very, very beautiful indeed, with Wawel Castle as its centre piece. How it escaped destruction in WW2 is a miracle in itself. Not so the Jewish quarter which of course paid a terrible price as one of WW2s most horrific ghettos. The small light in that awful darkness was the Schindler factory, now a museum.
